The Life of James Hudson Taylor

James Hudson Taylor was born in Barnsley, Yorkshire in the year 1832. He was converted into Christianity when he was 17. He came to know Jesus through a book as a sick coalman was forgiven by Jesus Christ and accepted Him. In 1858, he married Maria Dyer in Shanghai. He picked up Chinese language and mastered it in a few weeks. About 8 years later, his Lammermuir party arrived in Shanghai together with his family. 4 years later, tears came to Hudson Taylor for the death of his wife. 18 months later, he married Maria's best friend, Jennie Faulding. He began doing his missionary missions for 4 decades in China where men hated Christianity as a Western religion. It is a wonderful thing that over hundreds of Chinese came to know the Lord through Hudson Taylor. Hudson Taylor passed away peacefully in Changsha, Unan in 1905. Many Chinese died because of spreading the Word of God, but many remembered the missionary who sacrificed his life for the Chinese people; Hudson Taylor.
