Lottie Moon was born in December 12, 1840, at Viewmont in Albermale County, the fourth of seven children of Edward Harris Moon and Anna Maria Barclay Moon. When Lottie was 16, she graduated from Virginia Female Academy. As a child, she enjoyed all the advantages of the landed gentry of Antebellum,Virginia. She was converted into Christianity 2 years later. In 1861, Lottie received the master of arts degree from Albermale Female Institude. Lottie wanted to serve in China for Chinese non-believers to accept Jesus Christ. A decade later, the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board appointed Lottie Moon to go to China and preach the gospel there. She opened up her school to teach the gospel, especially to the children. There were many helpers from Virginia that helped Lottie in her gospel preaching mission to the Chinese. Unfortunately, Lottie Moon passed away peacefully in 1912 of a deadly sickness and died a few months later. Lottie became a role model to the Virginian missionaries as a best Virginian woman missionary.
