The Life of Corrie Ten Boom

In the year 1892, Corrie Ten Boom was born in Haarlem, in the Netherlands. She was one of four children born into a devout Dutch Reformed family that for generations had owned and operated a watch shop in the lower level of the family home in the town at Haarlem, in the Netherlands. When Corrie was 52 years old, her home was raided by the Gestapo. They were betrayed by a Dutchman, who contacted the authorities but many Jews were well-hidden in the Hiding Place. Corrie and her sister, Betsy were incarcerated at Ravensbruck, a notorious women's death camp. In May 1944, word was received by Corrie that her father had died. Corrie and Betsy were released from Ravensbruck a year later. In 1971, Corrie Ten Boom published a book entitled, "Hiding Place" which has become very famous. 5 years later, she made her final visit to Netherlands before she retired in California to "Shalom House". Corrie died in California in 1983. Though, Corrie Ten Boom was the only daughter that survived the longest because she had an unwavering faith in God, a faith that had been tried by fire.
